Prateik Babbar is the son of the late actress Smita Patil and veteran actor Raj Babbar. Raj and Smita’s love story began on the sets of their 1982 film Bheegi Palkein, leading Raj to separate from his first wife, Nadira Babbar, to be with Smita. Tragically, Smita passed away at the young age of 31 due to childbirth complications shortly after giving birth to Prateik in November 1986.
Following Smita’s untimely demise, Raj Babbar reunited with Nadira Babbar, and the couple had two children, Aarya and Juhi Babbar. Despite their shared lineage, Prateik has maintained a distant relationship with his half-siblings and father, as reflected in his decision to keep them out of his wedding celebrations.
