Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma Visited Premanand Maharaj After Virat's Test Cricket Retirement

Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli recently made a significant visit to the revered spiritual leader, Premanand Maharaj, at Vrindavan Dham in Uttar Pradesh. The couple’s presence at the ashram came just a day after Kohli announced his retirement from Test cricket. Their emotional interaction with Maharaj has now gained widespread attention, with a video showing Sharma visibly moved by his words of wisdom.

As soon as they arrived, Anushka and Virat greeted Premanand Maharaj with respect. The spiritual leader asked them, “Prasanna ho?”. In response, Kohli admitted, “Ji, abhi thik hain”. Maharaj’s reply was simple but profound—he wished them well and advised them on the deeper meaning of life.

During the conversation, Anushka, deeply touched by his teachings, asked, “Kya naam jap se ho jayega?”—questioning if chanting the Lord’s name could bring about transformation. Maharaj reassured her completely, sharing his life experiences in Bhakti Yoga. He explained that he had explored various spiritual paths before embracing devotion.

Premanand Maharaj imparted a powerful lesson to the couple. He clarified that wealth is not necessarily a blessing from the Lord. Instead, true grace lies in inner transformation. His advice was clear—chant the Lord’s name and let go of worries. He emphasized that devotion should come from the heart rather than merely repeating the name “Radha.”

This visit marked the third time Anushka and Virat had sought guidance from Premanand Maharaj. Their recurring visits reflect their deepening interest in spirituality, especially during major life transitions.

Meanwhile, Kohli’s decision to step away from Test cricket has left fans in reflection. His retirement follows a stellar 14-year career, during which he conquered various cricketing conditions and opponents worldwide.

Ahead of India’s upcoming five-match Test series against England, reports suggest that Kohli personally informed the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) about his decision. His remarkable Test career includes 123 matches, 9,230 runs, an average of 46.85, and a top score of 254*. Kohli stands fourth among India’s all-time highest Test run-scorers, following legends like Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, and Sunil Gavaskar.

Kohli’s Test career began in June 2011 with a series against the West Indies. Though his first tour was disappointing, yielding only 76 runs in five innings, he soon made a name for himself. His aggressive yet calculated approach to batting allowed him to thrive under pressure, shaping him into one of India’s greatest cricketers.

Both Kohli’s retirement and the couple’s spiritual visit symbolize new phases in their lives. As he moves away from the Test arena, his focus may shift toward personal growth, with spirituality playing an increasingly important role in his journey forward.
