Actor Shoaib Ibrahim recently shared a heartfelt update on his wife, Dipika Kakar, following her major surgery. In his vlog, Shoaib revealed that Dipika had undergone a challenging 14-hour-long operation for stage 2 liver cancer. Thankfully, the surgery was successful, and she is now out of the ICU.
Dipika’s surgery was extensive. She spent three days in the ICU, recovering from the complex procedure. Shoaib expressed immense relief, saying that on the eve of Eid al-Adha, she was finally moved out of intensive care. He emphasized that her condition kept improving post-surgery. Eventually, by the evening, doctors decided to shift her to a regular hospital room. However, she will remain under medical supervision for a few more days due to the intensity of the operation.
During the surgery, doctors also removed a gallstone, along with a small portion of her liver where the tumor was located. Fortunately, specialists were confident in the liver’s ability to heal itself, as it is a self-restorative organ. Despite that, her recovery requires close monitoring and care.
The day of the operation was extremely stressful for Shoaib and the family. Dipika was taken into the OT early in the morning at 8:30 AM, but she only came out around 11:30 PM. For several hours, there was no update from the surgical team, which heightened the anxiety of those waiting outside. Shoaib shared that by 6-7 PM, the family panicked because they had never witnessed such a serious operation before.
While Dipika was recovering in the ICU, her toddler son Ruhaan struggled to cope. According to Shoaib, Ruhaan was deeply affected by the absence of his mother. He managed the first few days, but on the last day, he cried a lot. Seeing his distress, the family decided to take him to the hospital so he could see Dipika. After meeting his mother, he calmed down and felt much better.
Before her surgery, Dipika had shared her diagnosis with her fans through an emotional Instagram post. She revealed how a simple stomach pain led to the discovery of a tumor in her liver—one that was as large as a tennis ball. Doctors later confirmed that it was stage 2 malignant cancer. She described the situation as one of the most difficult experiences of her life.
Despite the overwhelming circumstances, Dipika has displayed remarkable strength. Shoaib has been by her side, supporting her through every stage of treatment. Their love and resilience in the face of adversity have touched the hearts of many.
Now that Dipika is out of the ICU, her journey to recovery begins. She will remain under observation, ensuring her body heals properly. While the road ahead may be challenging, her medical team is confident in her progress. As Shoaib expressed in his vlog, this moment is one of immense gratitude. Seeing Dipika’s health improve is a relief, and he hopes she will be fully back on her feet soon.
