Rakhi Sawant, a well-known figure in the entertainment industry, recently found herself in the spotlight for reasons beyond her usual media presence. The Maharashtra Cyber Cell summoned her in connection with the controversy surrounding the show “India’s Got Latent.” This development has sparked significant public interest and debate, especially given the high-profile nature of the individuals involved.
Rakhi Sawant’s reaction to the summons was both defiant and critical. She questioned the priorities of the authorities, urging them to first address the numerous unresolved rape cases in the country. Her statement, “I have not committed any crime,” reflects her stance on the matter. She firmly believes that her involvement in the show does not warrant such legal scrutiny. By highlighting these serious issues, she aimed to shift the focus from her case to the larger, more pressing societal problems.
The controversy began when inappropriate comments made by Ranveer Allahbadia on the show led to widespread backlash. Consequently, the Maharashtra Cyber Cell initiated an investigation, summoning several individuals associated with the show, including Sawant. Sawant steadfastly believes she is being unfairly targeted, despite the gravity of the situation. She asserts her innocence and remains determined to clear her name.
The Maharashtra Cyber Cell has also summoned other celebrities such as Samay Raina, Ranveer Allahbadia, and Ashish Chanchlani, adding to the intensity of the situation. Their involvement has further fueled the public’s curiosity and concern.
All episodes of “India’s Got Latent” have been removed from YouTube. Samay Raina responded to his summon by requesting to be present virtually. However, the cyber cell denied his request, insisting on his physical presence. Ranveer Allahbadia, issued a public apology for his remarks and expressed his willingness to cooperate with the investigation. Ashish Chanchlani, has taken his case to the Supreme Court. The court has agreed to examine his plea to club the cases registered against him in connection with alleged obscene remarks made on the show. The Supreme Court has issued notices and sought replies from Assam and Maharashtra on Chanchlani’s plea, which seeks to quash or transfer the FIR registered in Guwahati to Mumbai. This case serves as a reminder of the complex interplay between celebrity, law, and social justice in modern society.
