The fire reportedly broke out around 5 AM, just two hours before the scheduled 7 AM shoot. Causing extensive damage to the set and halting production temporarily. Soon after the incident, Anupamaa’s producer Rajan Shahi issued an official statement to address the situation. “This is to inform everyone about an unfortunate incident that took place early this morning on the sets of Anupamaa. A fire broke out, but by God’s grace, there were no casualties,” he said.
He clarified that no shoot was scheduled for Sunday, and Monday’s call time was set for later in the day. “At the time of the incident, no unit members were present on set—only the security personnel and set staff were there, who are all safe. No animals were harmed, and proper care was taken for their safety,” he added.
Shahi also mentioned that the fire department and other authorities are investigating the root cause of the fire. Especially since the main power lights were switched off and there was no filming at the time. “The exact cause is still being determined,” he stated.
AICWA Demands High-Level Probe; Urges Stricter Safety Norms
The All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) responded swiftly via their official X (formerly Twitter) handle. Voicing deep concern over the incident. The association has called for a high-level investigation to determine the cause and has emphasized the need for stringent safety protocols on television and film sets.
AICWA’s statement underlined the importance of accountability and urged the industry to adopt better safety standards to avoid such dangerous mishaps in the future.
