Pankaj Tripathi Reacts to Rumours of Replacing Paresh Rawal as Baburao in Hera Pheri 3

The iconic Hera Pheri franchise has found itself at the centre of an unexpected storm. Following reports of veteran actor Paresh Rawal stepping away from his beloved role as Baburao Ganpatrao Apte in Hera Pheri 3, fans have been fervently suggesting that none other than Pankaj Tripathi take his place. However, the Mirzapur star has now addressed these rumours and has offered a humble response that reflects both respect and realism.

Pankaj Tripathi Breaks Silence

In a recent interview with Bollywood Hungama, Pankaj Tripathi was asked about the circulating speculation regarding his potential involvement in the film. Known for his nuanced performances in Criminal Justice and OMG 2—where he previously stepped into a role originally played by Paresh Rawal—Tripathi addressed the rumours with characteristic grace.

“Maine bhi suna ye,” Pankaj said, acknowledging the buzz. “Mera maan na hai ki Paresh ji ek kamaal ke abhineta hai. Unke samne toh main zero hu. Kuch bhi nahi hu. Bada sammaan karta hu unka.”
(Translation: “I’ve heard this too. I believe Paresh ji is a phenomenal actor. Compared to him, I am nothing. I have immense respect for him.”)

His remarks made it clear that while flattered by the fan support, he does not consider himself a suitable replacement for the legendary comic icon.

Paresh Rawal Clarifies His Exit And responded over Pankaj Replacing him

Meanwhile, Paresh Rawal himself has spoken out, shutting down reports that his departure was due to creative differences with director Priyadarshan. Taking to social media platform X, the actor posted:

“I wish to put it on record that my decision to step away from Hera Pheri 3 was not due to creative differences. I REITERATE THAT THERE ARE NO CREATIVE DISAGREEMENT WITH THE FILM MAKER. I hold immense love, respect, and faith in Mr. Priyadarshan the film director.”

This statement has deepened the mystery around his sudden exit, especially considering that the film’s trailer had reportedly already been shot.

Suniel Shetty Expresses Shock

Suniel Shetty, who plays Shyam in the franchise, also voiced his surprise at Rawal’s departure. “Even I don’t know what happened. We’ve already shot the trailer. Paresh ji isn’t someone who’d walk out publicly like that. We are always united for Hera Pheri,” Shetty said.

The situation took a dramatic turn when Akshay Kumar’s production house reportedly filed a ₹25 crore lawsuit against Paresh Rawal, citing breach of agreement. According to sources, Rawal had initially confirmed his involvement, and production had already begun. His sudden exit, they claim, caused financial losses and disrupted the film’s timeline.

What’s Next for Hera Pheri 3?

With Rawal stepping back, the makers are left scrambling to figure out the future of the film. While Pankaj Tripathi’s name continues to be floated by fans. His recent statement seems to have ruled out any official involvement—at least for now.

As fans await clarity on whether the third installment will see a new Baburao or if Rawal might reconsider, one thing is certain: Hera Pheri remains one of Bollywood’s most cherished franchises, and any change to its iconic cast is bound to be met with both scrutiny and emotion.

Stay tuned for further updates on the evolving drama around Hera Pheri 3.
