Sunita filed for divorce on December 5, 2024, at the Bandra Family Court. She cited serious allegations under Section 13(1)(i), (ia), and (ib) of the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955. These include adultery, cruelty, and desertion. Despite being summoned by the court, Govinda did not appear until a formal notice was issued in May 2025.
Since June 2025, the couple has been undergoing court-mandated counselling. Sunita has been attending these sessions in person. However, Govinda’s participation remains uncertain, raising questions about his commitment to reconciliation.

In a heartfelt YouTube vlog, Sunita opened up about her emotional journey. She shared her pain and disappointment, recalling her early hopes for a happy life with Govinda. While giving viewers a tour of the Kali Temple, she broke down and expressed her anguish. Her words were raw and intense:

Govinda and Sunita tied the knot on March 11, 1987. They have two children—Tina Ahuja and Yashvardhan Ahuja. Tina stepped into Bollywood in 2015 with the film Second Hand Husband. Despite their public appearances as a united family, cracks in the relationship have now come to light.
