- Diljit Dosanjh not dropped from Border 2

Amid swirling rumors and mounting controversy, actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh remains a part of the upcoming war drama Border 2. Contrary to reports suggesting his removal, a source close to the film’s production confirmed on Friday that Diljit has not been dropped from the project.

Diljit Dosanjh’s Controversy Unfolds

The controversy began after the trailer of Diljit’s Punjabi film Sardaar Ji 3 released on June 22. The film drew attention not only for its content but also for featuring Pakistani actor Hania Aamir. This casting choice sparked outrage, especially in the wake of the recent Pahalgam terror attack.

Despite the backlash, Sardaar Ji 3 released in overseas theatres today. This move further intensified criticism, particularly from the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE). The film body has since issued multiple threats to ban Diljit from working in India.

Rumours of Replacement in Border 2

As the controversy escalated, several reports claimed that Diljit had been dropped from Border 2. However, a source involved in the film’s production dismissed these claims. “The news about his replacement is not true. His casting was done 9 months back, and we have already finished 50% of the shoot,” the source clarified. This statement puts to rest speculation about Diljit’s exit from the film, at least for now.

In a bold move, FWICE addressed a letter to Sunny Deol, who also stars in Border 2. The letter urged him to reconsider his association with the film if Diljit remains part of the cast. “Your decision to disassociate from this collaboration will reaffirm your enduring image as a true patriot and will send a strong message that national interest will always come before individual pursuits,” the letter stated. This appeal adds further pressure on the production team and cast, especially as the film continues to shoot.

Border 2 : Production Continues

Despite the controversy, Border 2 is moving forward. The film, a sequel to JP Dutta’s iconic 1997 war drama Border, began its third shooting schedule in Pune just a week ago. The team has already completed half of the film, indicating that production is well underway.

While Diljit Dosanjh remains officially attached to Border 2, the situation remains tense. With FWICE’s threats looming and public sentiment divided, the film’s team may face further challenges in the coming weeks.
