The veteran actor, who brought joy to millions through his unforgettable performances, passed away on Monday afternoon at the age of 84. His manager, Babubhai Thiba, confirmed the news, stating that Asrani had been admitted to Bharatiya Arogya Nidhi Hospital in Juhu four days prior due to breathing complications.

Despite medical efforts, his condition worsened. Doctors revealed that water had accumulated in his lungs, which ultimately led to his demise at 3:00 PM. His passing marks the end of an era in Hindi cinema, where his comic timing and expressive performances became a staple across generations.

Over the course of more than five decades, Asrani appeared in over 300 films. He was widely recognized for his ability to infuse humor into everyday situations, making audiences laugh with ease. His most iconic role remains that of the eccentric jailer in the 1975 blockbuster Sholay. With his exaggerated mannerisms and the now-legendary line, “Hum angrezon ke zamane ke jailor hai,” Asrani carved a permanent place in Bollywood history.
