Fans of Mohit Sehgal and Sanaya Irani, fondly known as Monaya, have reason to celebrate. After nearly a decade, the beloved duo is set to share screen space once again. They will star together in the upcoming vertical microdrama Qubool Hai on Kuku TV. This marks their first collaboration since Nach Baliye in 2017 and their iconic pairing in Miley Jab Hum Tum back in 2008.

Mohit and Sanaya

Sanaya Irani opened up about how working with Mohit feels different today. She explained that during their Miley Jab Hum Tum days, their working styles and temperaments often clashed. However, after 17 years together, they have grown more alike. “It is easier to work with him now than it was back then. Today, there is a sense of understanding,” she shared. This evolution in their relationship has made their professional collaboration smoother and more enjoyable.

Exploring a New Format

Mohit Sehgal highlighted that the project excites him not only because of the reunion but also due to its unique format. Vertical microdramas are a fresh concept, and Mohit found the idea intriguing. “The format looked very interesting and the story looked good, so we thought why not take it up. We haven’t done a vertical microdrama before. It’s a new space and that makes it exciting,” he said.

Both Mohit and Sanaya were once among television’s most popular couples. Yet, they gradually stepped away from the spotlight. Mohit clarified that fame was never their driving force. “Sanaya and I never cared so much about stardom. We just genuinely liked acting. The craft was always our passion,” he emphasized. Sanaya echoed his thoughts, adding that she never entered the industry for fame. For her, the focus was always on the craft, not the fleeting nature of stardom.

The Truth About Television

Sanaya also addressed the misconception that she turned her back on television. She explained that she never consciously left the medium. Instead, the kind of creative work she sought simply stopped being made. “I didn’t leave TV — creative work left me. Mohit and I just want to do good work. If it comes on TV, great. If it comes through other mediums, we will go there,” she clarified.

With Qubool Hai, Mohit and Sanaya are not just returning to the screen; they are embracing a new storytelling format. Their reunion promises nostalgia for longtime fans and excitement for those eager to see them explore fresh creative spaces. After nine years, Monaya is back, stronger, more in sync, and ready to captivate audiences once again.
